whogotwhat - Posted by keith at 06:02 PM

i've recently been working on an online gear inventory and check-out system for the outing club.  this will hopefully make it easier to keep up with the gear the club has and prevent people from hording gear.

so what we need you to do is play with it.  let me know if something appears to not work.  click here:  http://apps.facebook.com/whogotwhat/

your first time visiting you'll be asked to add yourself to the database.  don't worry we won't sell your information to scammers in nigeria.  in fact, we don't have access to any information you don't want us to.  as a normal user this application will seem very boring.  there will be 2 functions for you to use:  see what gear you have checked out and see the gear the club has.  admins have other cool tools such as seeing who has what, seeing what's overdue, etc.  admins can also send notifications to users with overdue gear.  we may check some gear out to you during this testing phase just to see how it works, don't worry we know you don't really have it.

why use facebook?
*because 99% of you are probably already signed up for it.  so you won't have to register for a new service
*because of the reason above, it should be easy for people to learn to use a facebook app
*facebook already has the contact information we need to get in touch with you

so, click away.  try and break it and please let me know if you're successful.  send any comments and suggestions my way as well.

come play at the Tuck - Posted by keith on Monday, 12 May 2008

I'll be at the Tuckasegee this Thursday and Friday doing some swift water rescue training.  If you're in the area give me a ring and maybe we can do a lap, or play somewhere in the evening.  We'll be camping at the Dillsboro River Company across from the public put-in.

Canoe camping after graduation - Posted by stafa287 on Friday, 25 April 2008

Is anyone interested in doing a canoe camping trip sometime after graduation either the next weekend or during that week.  I was thinking about the Cape Fear from Buckhorn Dam to Erwin which is about a 26 mile paddle over 2 days and camping out at Raven Rock State Park.  This section is mostly flatwater but there are periods of class I-II whitewater so everyone who wants to go should have some experience in a canoe.  Hit me up with any interest and what days are preferable.

Whitewater Rafting - Posted by btr on Monday, 14 April 2008

Hello,
I know this seems a little like spam, but it isn't....I am the owner of a outfitter on the Ocoee River.
The name of the company is ROW. This is our first year and we are looking to have a great time. We are opening up our campground to anyone for free if you need a place to crash. No squatters. We are brothers that boated and hiked all over the Southeast, and decided that real our real jobs sucked. So we started ROW. If you need a warm shower & a bathroom they will be open just give us a call 888-RAFTONE. You can check us out on the web at http://www.raft1.com  or email me. Anywho, If you know of someone wanting to go rafting, please send them my way.
Thanks,
Brent
